INTRODUCTION

It should have been written "L'été des indiens" but dA doesn't like letters with accents -.-"
---
Finally, after three weeks of work I finished my entry for R-no71's contest :)
---
The theme is Indian Summer, also known as Été des indiens (in french) or Estate di San Martino (in italian). It's one of my favourite periods because I like both fall AND warm temperatures... Plus, I always related a lot with this period, because it almost always happens between St. Martin's Day (and that day is my name-day) so...a thanks to R-No71 for having set up this theme, because... he really couldn't choose a best one! xD

THE VISUAL PART

So, I was initially thinking about a simple pic, with all the good, warm fall colors, and a relaxed Neige enjoying the little simple things offered by the nature... then I thought to add Fannie, to let Neige interact... then I scrapped the whole idea because I can! ;D Starting all over again, I decided to make an animation about a precise moment. Thinking about this, I also sorted out several things.

:bulletred:Neige is a quite kitty that doesn't talk much:bulletred:
This makes me think about a contemplative and thoughtful personality. A second character, then, wouldn't have affected too positively on both the pic and the athmosphere.
:bulletred:Neige is used to cold weather, she suffers hot weathers:bulletred:
So a something in the middle of the day would be a bit uncomfortable for her, and I didn't want to focus on this side.

The result is an animation that portrays Neige, at the end of the day (smartly avoiding the hottest moment of the day), deciding finally to go out for a walk and... discovering what a beautiful athmosphere the nature reserved for her (Did you see, Neige? It's not only about hot temperatures! ;D)... I added a song that always made me think about this warm, relaxing and a bit melancholic athmosphere... I hope it makes you feel the same! :D
Well... now enjoy the written part ;)

THE WRITTEN PART

The sunlight timidly penetrates through the half raised shutter. It's 10 o' clock. A white cat is still sleeping on her bed, when the sunlight hits her eyes. With a moan, Neige (so she's called) lazily turns her head on the other side, flipping the pillow to feel its still fresh side on her cheek. Everybody does it, it's a sensation that would induce sleep even to an hyperactive person.
A couples of hours after the sunlight is strong enough to definitely wake up Neige
―"Mgneh... I slept enough..."
She says, stretching as only a cat can, then she looks at the time on her radio alarm and, realizing that she slept more than expected, she finally gets up.
Taking her time, Neige eats her breakfast and goes to wash herself; then, completely naked and not caring at all about that, she looks at her wardrobe, with some hesitation...
―"Hmmm... what could I dress today?...usual outfit? Something fancy? Mmmh... nah, let's be comfy as always!"
And saying so, she takes her favourite boots and shirt and puts them on... then she dresses her rings, and goes out. Neige lives in a small town, not too far from a big city. The town doesn't count a lot of people in it, but that doesn't seem to affect Neige that much. She likes calm and quiet environments, so when she had to buy a new home to live in, she opted for this place.
The sky is completely blue, interrupted here and there by few harmless clouds. Some leave is flying here and there since the fall is yet started, but the weather is unusually hot.
―"Whoa! It's hot today! I never... felt so hot in my life!"― she says, panting a bit ―"...I'll go to the first cafè I'll see to buy a bottle of water."
Neige reaches the park, not too far from her home. The park is a riot of colors, from yellow to orange, from red green to brown... Neige, seeing this spectacle, smiles and seems to forget about the bottle of water, until she sees a little kiosk selling water, drinks and snacks. Neige approaches the kiosk and buys a bottle of water, then continues her walk in the park, but the weather doesn't help at all.
―"Meeeh... it's too hot, and the water isn't fresh at all... I can't even refresh my water with my powers, or I'd risk a tummyache... whoa... it seems like a second summer!"
―"It's what we call Indian summer, young girl...eheheh!" says, giggling an old woman sitting on a bench. She seems relaxed and totally not caring about the hot weather. She just sits, smiling, looking at her little nephew playing with the other children and throwing some bread to some bird. Somewhere else a guy, dressed as a clown, is making animals out of some of those long balloons while the kids around are clamoring for every kind of animal. Everybody seems to not care about the hot weather, but that's normal because all the people, here, are used to the Indian summer, but Neige is not from here, and she's used to way colder temperatures.
―"I think it's better to hang out later, I can't stand this hot temperature..." she says to herself, so she gets out the park and goes back home... once arrived, she immediately removes her shirt and her boots. Feeling the fresh parquet under her bare paws makes her feel yet better
―"Ahhhh... home FRESH home!" says Neige, in a relaxed tone.
It's 1PM and the hunger is felt, so Neige puts some meat on the bedpan, some spice and starts cooking it... while she waits for her lunch to get cooked, she turns on the tv on some unknown music channel, just to set up some athmosphere. The lunch is ready and the time Neige took to eat her meal almost didn't do justice to the time she took to cook it. Neige is almost about to hang out again but she realizes it's still to hot for her; the sun is still high, and it's not really time for a walk for her. A bit resigned, she then takes her paper block and some pencil, she curls up on the sofa and starts doodling.
The time passes and the sun starts to get low, painting the rooms walls of a yellow-orange light.
―"Five o' clock... I drew enough for today"― she says, getting up from the sofa and putting her paper block on the dining room table ―"...I'll go back to the park!"
She puts on her boots and her shirt again and leaves her home once again, but this time the temperature is way more merciful.
The sky is now a golden cloak and the little, country-ish roads are now silent... the children are starting to leave the park with their parents and grandparents. The park is now almost totally silent and the silence is sporadically broken here and there by the complaining voice of some kid who doesn't want to leave the park and several crows cawing around. Neige, who never visited the whole park, decides to take a long path, behind the park, that seems to end on a big meadow; the path is covered by fallen leaves that compose a brown, red and yellow casual texture on the ground; the walk is a spectacular natural tunnel, made of trees and everything Neige sees seems to be colored with just four colors... the brown of the trunks, the yellow of the sun and the orange-red of the leaves around. It doesn't seem to be part of a town, the only heard noises are produced by the nature; the birds, the fronds and the fresh wind that is now blowing gently on Neige's cheeks. The path finally ends...
―"Oh my... I never ever saw... something like... that!" Neige's voice is broken by the emotion. It's one of the best sights she ever had in her whole life... the wind blows softly on her face, swaying her hair and gently carrying here and there some falling leave... meanwhile an huge golden meadow in front of Neige is partially darkened by the contrast caused by the sun... the big city's silhouette stands out in the distance and when the wind stops blowing, with some concentration, it can be slightly heard the chaotic noises of the city. The sun goes down, hypnotizing Neige for a while... Suddently, the church bells start chiming, awakening Neige from her temporary hypnosis
―"Uh... It's yet 7 o' clock! Well... it's better to get back home..."
And saying so, Neige leaves that little golden paradise, going back home, with a peaceful and calm feeling in her heart.
